Young artist makes two top displays

A YOUNG artist from West Lothian is set to be recognised in two national exhibitions.

Khalid Alsayad, 23, who studied at West Lothian College, will see his work feature in the Royal Scottish Academy’s New Contemporaries show and the Society of Scottish Artists exhibition next year.

Both events are designed to showcase the cream of the crop emerging from Scotland’s art colleges and universities.

Mr Alsayad, from Livingston, said: “Even though I left school at a very young age, it was really important to show my parents that learning was still a priority.”

Alisa Lindsay, programme co-ordinator at the RSA, said: “Congratulations to Khalid – we look forward to his work being part of what will be an amazing show.”
