Writer pens arts cash plea

Leading Scottish contemporary playwright David Greig has called on Creative Scotland to immediately drop its overhaul of arts funding.

In an open letter to the agency, Greig described the proposed changes as a ‘mistake’ and said it was ‘haemorrhaging trust’ over its plan to move nearly 50 Scottish arts organisations from annual to one-off funding.

Mr Greig, the writer behind acclaimed plays Midsummer and Dunsinane, said: “They have to respond very quickly by suspending this decision and admitting that a mistake has been made.”
