Woman and child treated after Leith bedroom fire

A CHILD and woman have been treated after a bedroom fire in Leith.

Firefighters and medics rushed to the scene of the blaze in Maritime Street following an emergency call received just after 8.45am this morning.

Emergency service crews said they found a four-year-old child who was “conscious, breathing and alert” when they arrived.

They added that a 35-year-old woman was being treated for smoke inhalation.

Medics said they were still working on scene and could not confirm whether the woman and child would need hospital treatment.
