Woman, 81, dies after being hit by car at Western General

AN 81-YEAR-OLD woman has been killed after being struck by a car at the Western General.

The incident happened at around 4pm today.

The woman was crossing Porterfield Road when she was involved in a collision with a car. She suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene, however succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle is assisting police with the inquiry and officers are appealing for witnesses.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision, which happened close to the Anne Ferguson Building, Western General Hospital.”
