Wind farm to breeze in with exhibit

A SERIES of public exhibitions are to take place as part of a consultation over a Midlothian wind farm proposal.

The renewable energy developer Wind Prospect aims to build the wind farm at Mount Lothian on the Penicuik Estate.

The site is said to have a high average wind speed of 7.5 metres per second and would generate up to 58,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year, enough to power 14,000 homes.

Wind Prospect is holding three exhibitions next week – on July 3 at Howgate Village Hall, July 4 at Eddleston Village Hall and July 5 at Penicuik Town Hall. Doors are open at each between 3pm and 7.30pm.

Development manager Karen Thorburn said: “These exhibitions are one element of a much broader programme of engagement we are currently undertaking with the local community.”
