Uni honour for politician

LEADING German politician David McAllister has received an honorary degree from Edinburgh University at a historic event in Berlin.

The award to Mr McAllister, Prime Minister of Lower Saxony – whose father was Scottish – is in recognition of his work to further European integration and energy co-operation.

The ceremony was part of the university’s General Council meeting, which was held in Berlin, as the university seeks to build closer links with Germany.
