‘Ultra fast’ net trials

Edinburgh will be one of the first places in the UK to test a new “ultra fast” fibre broadband.

BT’s local network business Openreach revealed eight locations, including Edinburgh city centre’s Waverley exchange area, where it will pilot the delivery of “FTTP on Demand”.

This service, which BT will make commercially available from spring 2013, will enable customers to order a 330Mbps broadband connection to their home or business.
