Toddler names Bessie the learning bus

A TODDLER from Sighthill has renamed a learning bus operated by the Scottish Government after winning a competition.

Two-year-old Clayton Butler hopped on board Bessie the Bus after his suggestion was picked from more than 100 entries.

To celebrate, Clayton and his friends joined mums and dads on board the former PlayTalkRead bus for a baby disco.

The winning choice was picked by Tam Baillie, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People.

Children’s minister Aileen Campbell said: “The name-the-bus competition was an exciting way to get tots thinking creatively. We had a huge number of entrants.

“Bessie stood out straight away and I hope parents and tots make the most of playing, talking and reading together on our fun and colourful bus as it continues travelling across the
country.”
