Ten-year-old James Browne has raised more than £700 for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation after having his foot-tall afro cut off at Craiglockhart Primary School.

James Ededey, of Your Choice barbers in Gorgie Road, carried out the hair-raising feat yesterday. The pupil proved to be a snip off the old block of his elder brother, who went from bushy barnet to buzz-cut six years ago.
