Students to capture views on county

Students from Queen Margaret University are taking part in an event in the city centre to find out what people love about East Lothian.

The event management students will use mini video cameras to capture people’s views on the county – what they like, as well as their awareness and satisfaction of what East Lothian has to offer.

The Wish you were there event will take place in St Andrew Square until August 14, and will involve a wide variety of East Lothian businesses and tourist attractions including the Seabird Centre, Brunton Theatre and the East Fortune Museum of Flight.

Professor Joe Goldblatt, an international events expert and director of Queen Margaret University’s International Centre for the Study of Planned Events, said: “We are delighted to take part in this celebration of East Lothian and help capture the essence of what people enjoy about the county.

“The university will upload the video clips of the feedback onto YouTube so that others can get recommendations about great things to experience in East Lothian.”

Rosalyn Marshall, vice principal of the university, said: “Our involvement with this initiative exemplifies Queen Margaret University’s ambition to assist our local community to grow and develop its businesses, especially in tourism and hospitality.”
