Snaffles sale at Bonhams

A FINE selection of works by the famous sporting and military artist, Snaffles, will be for sale at Bonhams Sporting Sale in the Capital.

Military life and hunting were preoccupations throughout Snaffles’ long life – he died in 1967 – and the sale will feature one of his most famous images, the 1940 print The Season (£500-£600), where these two interests come together.

A total of 19 works by Snaffles – real name Charles Johnson Payne – will be in the sale on Thursday, ranging in price from £150 to £3,000.
