Showing the reel Africa

SCOTLAND’S largest celebration of African cinema returns to the Capital for its seventh consecutive year this October on the theme of “Modern Africa”.

Hosted at the Filmhouse cinema, the African Film Festival boasts an eclectic programme of documentary and fictional movies exploring the urban experience of the continent and its contemporary politics.

The festival will be accompanied by a diverse range of events including director Q&A sessions and masterclasses, workshops, music performances and a visual art
exhibition.

The full programme will be announced on September 24, with the festival running from October 25 to November 2.

For the first time events will also be hosted at the Glasgow Film Theatre.
