Scuffles at cuts protest

Anti-cuts protesters gathered in the Grassmarket outside the venue for the Prime Minister’s speech yesterday.

Dozens of police officers were forced to disperse the crowd following the event, with a number of protesters dragged away. Other members of the protest, several of whom were waving “Coalition against cuts” flags and “No Cuts” placards, chanted “scum” at officers.

Police confirmed that two people were arrested in connection with public disorder offences.
