Rox jewellery robbery suspects appear in court
TWO men have appeared in court charged with committing a £1 million robbery from a city centre jeweller.
Lincoln Warmington, 26, and Elliot Jorgensen, 25, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the allegation.
The pair – from the Salford area of Greater Manchester – made no plea or declaration to a charge which stated they allegedly robbed Rox in George Street on Tuesday, January 15.
It has been alleged that diamond necklaces, rings and watches were taken during the robbery, which took place during evening rush hour.
The store was opened four months ago in an event attended by former BBC Scotland weather girl Cat Cubie and the rapper Labrinth.
Since the alleged robbery, the store has spent £50,000 on improving its security.
A smoke cloud system which fills the shop with a thick fog to reduce visibility has also been installed by the retailer.
Sheriff Donald Corke remanded both Warmington and Jorgensen in custody – they are expected to reappear in court next week.
