Rescuers resume search for hillwalker from Capital

POLICE and mountain rescue teams resumed their search this morning for an Edinburgh hillwalker who has been missing in the Highlands for two days.

The man in his 70s, who is believed to have been on his own, failed to return from a walk in the Glen Etive area.

Northern Constabulary said the man has been missing since noon on Wednesday.

He is described as slim, with short white hair, about 5ft 8in tall and was wearing glasses.

He is also thought to have been carrying a large green and maroon rucksack and had a walking pole, dark brown hiking boots, grey and blue hiking trousers and an orange survival pack.

Northern Constabulary are co-ordinating the search, which also involves Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team, Oban Mountain Rescue Team and RAF Leuchars Mountain Rescue Team.

Police said they were keeping the man’s family informed.
