Public urged to honour workers’ day

WEST Lothian residents are being encouraged to attend a ceremony to mark Workers’ Memorial Day.

The international day of remembrance for workers killed in accidents at work, or by diseases caused by work, is recognised as a national day in many countries. The West Lothian event will take place at Bathgate Sports Centre on April 28 at 12.30pm.

Event organiser Jim Swan said: “We hope that as many people as possible will come along to the ceremony – everyone is welcome and the event is free.

This is a chance to remember loved ones who have died from a work-related illness. There are also a limited number of spaces available for a free Workers’ Memorial Day seminar with key speakers at the Sports Centre, which starts at 10am.”

Anyone interested in attending the event should email Sheila.gallagher@westlothian.gov.uk.
