Police launch bid to recruit minority staff
LOTHIAN and Borders Police are launching a recruitment drive to encourage more people from minority groups to apply for Police Constable and Special Constable roles.
They will be inviting applications from women, black and minority ethnic groups as well as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the community at an event being held at Fettes Police Headquarters next Saturday, between 9am and noon.
Visitors will be given details of the application process, exam requirements, and what would be expected during a fitness assessment.
They will also have the opportunity to watch officer safety demonstrations, try on the police uniform and sample the sort of test they might encounter during the fitness assessment, such as an upper body strength challenge.
Police officers and Special Constables will also be on hand for an informal chat.
To book a place, email positiveactionday@lbp.pnn.police.uk with your name, address and contact number.
Members of the force will also be at the Mela on September 1 and 2.
