Police bid for Mela boost

POLICE are set to search for recruits to the force among ethnic minorities at this year’s Edinburgh Mela.

A recruitment team will be on hand at the Leith Links event, which celebrates Capital’s Asian communities, on September 1 and 2 between noon and 4pm.

The force is currently seeking to recruit new officers among women and minority groups in a bid to boost its diversity.

At present it has 44 officers and 12 staff members from ethnic minorities.
