Plumber is a Brit of alright

A TRADESMAN from the Capital has been named Britain’s best.

Michael Cairns beat off competition from more than 3000 fellow workers to scoop the title of Britain’s Top Tradesman 2012.

The 28-year-old plumber and gas engineer from Mountcastle, who runs his own business, received the accolade from trade retailer Screwfix after becoming the first Scot in the history of the competition to reach the UK final.

He also won a brand new Renault van.

Mr Cairns said: “I was up against some very tough competition both in the regional and national finals, so I couldn’t believe it when I won.

“The van will go a long way to helping me grow my business and the title is a fantastic endorsement.”
