Pen friends get beast of a challenge

Abbie Coulson, Charlotte Kenyon and Jack Chambers got a head-start in the Green Pencil Award creative writing competition as it launched today.

The Pentland Primary bookworms received some pointers from Edinburgh reader-in-residence Ryan Van Winkle as they began penning a short story or poem about “Birds & Beasties”.

The competition runs until October 12, and the 2012 winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on November 23 in the Central Library.
