Paterson ‘humbled’ by degree

Scottish rugby’s record cap holder has said he felt humbled after being given an honorary degree.

Chris Paterson, who gained 109 caps and scored 809 points for Scotland, received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Edinburgh Napier University at a ceremony held at the Usher Hall yesterday.

He said: “I am truly humbled and absolutely delighted to be recognised in this way.

“It’s already been an incredible year for me and this is another huge surprise and honour.”

The Edinburgh-born player was the youngest to amass 50 caps for Scotland and is the only Scot to have played more than 100 times for his country.
