Party leaders to gather in equality bid

LEADERS from almost all parties at the City Chambers are to meet equality chiefs to discuss improving community relations ahead of council elections.

The summit is designed to offer Edinburgh & Lothians Regional Equality Council (ELREC) representatives to hear what each party’s manifesto will do to promote “equality, diversity and foster good community relations” in the Capital and what is being done to encourage inclusion.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting, being held at Augustine United Church, George IV Bridge, on Monday from 6.30pm.

Foysol Choudhury, ELREC chair, said: “To achieve equality and have a just society, it is vital that we have to have engagement and dialogue between communities and our politicians. We urge everyone to participate at the event and make their votes count.”
