Pals taking the Mickey for Mark

HIBS legend Mickey Weir has been lined up to referee a charity football match to be played in memory of young fundraiser killed in a motorbike accident.

Mark “Sparky” Mackenzie died after he collided with a tractor earlier this month. The 26-year-old was a keen fundraiser, and his friends have vowed to continue raising money for the Citadel Youth Centre in Leith.

Jamie Muir was practising his keepy-uppies as Dean McGhee and Jai Mackenzie held pictures of Mark at the launch of the memorial match, which they hope will become an annual event.

Jamie said: “It’s my way of saying to Mark ‘thanks for everything’. He was a role model and it’s everyone’s chance to give back to Mark.”
