Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has visited an army-led outreach course at Castlelaw Farm, near Penicuik, to see how military training is boosting young people’s skills and steering them from trouble.

The courses are aimed at young people aged between 14 and 18 who are minor offenders or seen as at a high-risk of offending. Over five days, the young people take part in activities such as map-reading, sport, adventure training, first aid and living in the field.
