Noisy neighbour convicted

A WOMAN described as a “neighbour from hell” has been convicted of breaking an antisocial behaviour order by smashing plates on the floor.

Neighbours called the police after they heard Evelyn Welsh creating unacceptable noise from her flat.

She was playing loud music, shouting and singing, Livingston Sheriff Court heard.

Residents told police that they heard crockery being smashed to smithereens in her flat in Bathgate, West Lothian.

But Welsh, 40, claimed in court that the dishes fell off her kitchen worktop when her washing machine started spinning.

She appeared for sentence yesterday after earlier pleading guilty to breaching her Asbo.

She committed the offence just a month after being banned from making excessive noise at her home in Stevenson Terrace in Bathgate.

Evelyn Welsh was put under social work supervision for 12 months by Sheriff Martin Edington.
