New recruits join up with Lothian and Borders Police

LOTHIAN and Borders Police now have 190 special constables after more than 40 new recruits signed up.

A total of 43 new special constables have joined the ranks following a recent recruitment drive and were set to undergo a ten-week training regime before staring their duties.

Special constables logged 10,861 hours of duty with the force between April and 
September.

They are regularly assigned to community beat patrols as well as big events such as football matches.
