Missing Scottish OAP found dehydrated after going missing in Spain

Spanish police are looking for John Ronald

Spanish police are looking for John Ronald

AN elderly Edinburgh man who went missing for two days in rural Spain has been found.

John Ronald, 74, from Restalrig, was separated from his wife Martha, 78, after they boarded a bus to their holiday apartment in the hills in the Benalmadena region on Monday.

The Restalrig pensioner did not notice his wife, who was sitting in a separate seat, get off the bus and it is thought he may have become disorientated after disembarking.

He was found 15 miles away from where he was last seen and is reported to have been dehydrated and unable to remember anything.

Mr Ronald suffered a stroke two years ago, which had left him with dementia-like symptoms.

A wide-scale police search was carried out with Mr Ronald’s family back in Scotland appealing for his safe return.

The couple are believed to have been regular visitors to the area and have several friends there.
