Missing dog reunited with family

A DOG which disappeared while its owner went to a shop to buy milk has been found.

Four-year-old whippet Zero had been tied to a railing outside the Bank of Scotland in Roseburn Terrace at about 8.30pm last Wednesday.

But when owner Maria Galea, 57, came outside of the nearby Co-op he was missing and a report was made to the police.

Zero was returned to his family on Sunday after he was recognised in a listing on Gumtree.

Maria, a GP who lives in Murrayfield, said: “We are relieved that we have Zero back safe and unhurt.

“As a result of our traumatic experience, we wish to warn as many dog-owners and minders as possible never to leave dogs tied and unattended even for a couple of minutes.

“We would like to thank all who supported us and helped us in our search for Zero, in particular Linda of LostDogs-Scotland for her genuine empathy and concern and the police for their prompt response to our distress call.”
