Man fined in ball theft case

A MAN has been fined after being found in possession of stolen footballs belonging to a local football coach.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday 25-year old Darren Carrick, of Stenhouse Drive, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to resetting the balls, belonging to a coach for Cramond Football Club, between June 26 and 27, 2011.

Defence solicitor, Matthew Nicolson, said his client had known the balls were stolen and were in his hut. He had asked the person who stole them to remove them, but this had not happened before they were discovered. Sheriff Macleod fined Carrick £300.
