Kid Canaveral

Kid Canaveral describe their sound as “three parts indie-pop and one part punk”, with a range of influences that include Pixies, Teenage Fanclub, REM, The Cure and Idlewild.

Originally from St Andrews but moving to the Capital a few years back in order to “get to somewhere that was bigger and had more of a scene”, the band were soon signed to Fence Records, the label founded by Kenny Anderson, who performs under the King Creosote moniker.

As well as receiving much praise for their debut album Shouting at Wildlife, Kid Canaveral have impressed during a number of high-profile support slots for artists such as Camera Obscura, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), KT Tunstall, Frightened Rabbit, Glasvegas, King Creosote and The Phantom Band.

Always engaging live, the whimsical indie popsters headline at the Wee Red Bar on Saturday.

The Deadly Winters

Releasing their debut album in 2011, Edinburgh’s The Deadly Winters received play on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing in Scotland, Jim Gellatly’s Weekly Podcast, Amazing Radio, Get Ready To Rock Radio, Gill Mills New Music Matters and numerous internet stations and Podcasts from the UK to Australia.

Formed from the ashes of indie also-rans Rieser a couple of years back, the folk-rock five-piece can be seen in live action at Electric Circus on Tuesday night, opening for Glasgow singer Carly Connor (see Page 11).
