Law firm in English merger

A LAW firm based in the Capital is to merge with an English company.

Archibald Campbell & Harley, established more than a century ago, will merge with Northampton-based Shoosmiths later this year.

Shoosmiths currently has offices in towns and cities across England, including Birmingham, Manchester and Milton Keynes.

The merger, which will create a company called ACH Shoosmiths, is the latest in a series involving Scottish firms.

In February, McGrigors said it would merge with London firm Pinsent Masons, while Fyfe Ireland confirmed it would combine with Tods Murray.

Shoosmiths chairman Andrew Tubbs said: “Clients have been telling us for some time that they wished we had a presence north of the Border, and this is us responding to their wishes.

“Opportunities will be created north and south of the Border through cross- referral of both firms’ existing clients.”
