BRIT award-winning singer/songwriter Jessie J is to play Edinburgh Castle in what will be her only Scottish show this summer, the Evening News can reveal.

The R&B singer who has sold more than 11 million singles and 2.5 million albums worldwide and who is famous for her no nonsense approach as a judge on the prime-time BBC talent show the Voice, will perform on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade on Wednesday, July 17.

Barry Wright, director of Castle Concerts said: “We are delighted to announce that one of the most exciting acts of her generation, Jessie J, will play her only Scottish show this summer at Edinburgh Castle.”

Jessie J – real name Jessica Ellen Cornish – topped the charts in 19 countries with her hit song, Price Tag

Nick Finnigan, executive manager at Edinburgh Castle, said: “I am delighted that the award-winning international star Jessie J will be appearing in concert in the spectacular setting of Edinburgh Castle.

“With the recent announcement that Paul Weller will hold a one-off concert in Scotland at Edinburgh Castle and Runrig’s concert to celebrate their 40th anniversary, we have three great events to appeal to different audiences.”

Tickets to see the 24-year-old, who is due to release a second album this year, will go on sale at 9am on Friday, priced £35-£38.50, from www.ticketmaster.co.uk and 0844 844 04444.

• T in the Park bosses yesterday revealed Mumford & Sons, Rhianna and The Killers will headline this year’s festival. Nina Nesbitt will also perform.
