Grants to get women fitter

COMMUNITY groups are urged to apply for funding as part of a campaign aimed at boosting women’s health.

Small Steps Big Difference will deliver grants of up to £4000 to innovative schemes out to develop nutrition and physical activity programmes for women aged 20-49.

Dr Alison McCallum, director of public health and health policy at NHS Lothian, said: “Small Steps Big Difference aims to promote small changes to lifestyle as a way of improving overall health. This is a great opportunity for local groups to get involved in a campaign targeting women within their local communities.

“The campaign promotes simple ideas that are relatively easy to work into their lives.

The project is run jointly by NHS Lothian and Edinburgh City Council.
