Girl knocked down by bus

AN 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a leg injury after being hit by a bus.

The child was knocked down by a double decker on Gilmerton Road at 5.34pm yesterday, before being rushed to the Sick Kids.

A resident of nearby Nether Liberton Court, who asked not to be named, said: “I heard sirens and looked out to see the ambulance arriving and police everywhere.”

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We received a call to Gilmerton Road at 5.34pm and upon attendance Paramedics dealt with an 11-year old girl who had suffered a serious leg injury.”
