Forth yacht OAPs rescued

TWO pensioners had to be rescued after their yacht nearly sank in the Firth of Forth.

A 12-metre catamaran was returning to Granton from Anstruther, Fife, yesterday morning when it hit rocks near the Little Herwit rock, south of Inchkeith. The vessel sustained serious damage and sent out a mayday distress message.

A lifeboat crew from Kinghorn rushed to the scene.

Helmsman Keith Hay said: “These men were lucky to be rescued as the Forth is very cold.”
