Five Things To Do in Edinburgh: Wednesday 31 October

Your pick of the city’s nights out.

• THEATRE: The Mousetrap. The Mousetrap is famous around the world as being the longest running show of any kind in the history of British theatre – with over 23,000 performances it is a play to be proud of. And to celebrate 60 incredible years on stage, it’s going on tour for very first time ever. The scene is set when a group of people gathered in a country house cut off by the snow discover, to their horror, that there is a murderer in their midst. Who can it be? One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the identity and the motive are finally revealed. King’s Theatre, Leven Street, 2.30pm, 7.30pm, £11.50–£29.50 (£8.50–£26.50), 0131-529 6000

• COMEDY: The Best of Scottish Comedy Halowe’en Special. With David Kay, Chris Forbes, Susie McCabe, Martin Bearne and host Susan Calman. The Stand, York Place, 8.30pm, £6 (£5), 0131-558 7272

• MUSIC: Alice Cooper. The veteran panto-rocker comes to the Capital. A giant costume party is guaranteed as fans bid to outdo each other for the most outrageous Halloween outfit. Alice’s incredible band lead the party – featuring Orianthi, Ryan Roxie, Tommy Henricksen, Chuck Garric and Glen Sobel – one of the great bands working in rock ‘n’ roll, tearing into Alice’s classics and tracks from latest album Welcome 2 My Nightmare. Usher Hall, Lothian Road, 7pm, £36, 0131-228 1155

• THEATRE Batsheva Ensemble: Deca Dance: First performed in 2000, Deca Dance is a celebration of ten years of Naharin’s work with Batsheva Dance Company. Highlighting many facets of his repertoire, Naharin reconstructs his oeuvre by taking sections of existing works and reorganising them into a fresh new experience. Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Nicolson Street, 7.30pm, £12.50–£22.50 (£9.50–£19.50), 0131-529 6000
