Event puts low-carbon energy in spotlight

The opportunities for Scotland presented by the low-carbon energy industry, and the barriers to its success, will come under the microscope at a major conference in Edinburgh next month.

Senior financiers, utilities chiefs and government representatives from around the world will take part in the two-day Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on October 10 and 11. First Minister Alex Salmond will give a keynote address on Scotland’s role in leading innovation and development in the low carbon field.

Confirmed speakers also include Ed Davey, Secretary of State for Energy, and Lord Smith, chairman of the Green Investment Bank. Figures predict £2.3 billion of new renewables projects were completed in Scotland between April 2011 and July this year, creating more than 4600 jobs.
