Electric vans

SIX environmentally-friendly electric vans for use in front-line council services have been welcomed by the council’s environment leader.

The Renault Kangoos will be used for services including road maintenance, waste services, and street cleaning.

Councillor Lesley Hinds said: “This is a very important step towards cleaner and more efficient council vehicles. We use three electric cars and are awaiting the delivery of an electric mail van, which will bring our green fleet up to 13 vehicles, including hybrids.”

She added: “We have installed charging posts and we hope to replace more of our diesel cars and vans with electric alternatives in the future.”
