Drugs dragnet catches 500

POLICE carried out nearly 4000 searches for drugs in the Lothians over three months, with almost 500 proving “positive”.

A total of 3862 searches were conducted between April and June, with 482 netting controlled drugs. In Edinburgh, 2168 searches  produced 273 positive finds while in West Lothian 596 searches uncovered drugs on 71 occasions. In East Lothian and Midlothian combined, officers had 88 positive results.
