Deferred sentence for growing drug

A SHERIFF has deferred sentence on a man who admitted growing marijuana.

Sheriff Celia Sanderson called for background reports on David McMillan when he appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court.

McMillan, 37, of Whitburn, West Lothian, pleaded guilty yesterday to cultivating cannabis at a house in nearby Bathgate, West Lothian.

He also admitted several previous convictions under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

McMillan was arrested after police searched the property in Castle Place, Bathgate, on September 7 last year.

Sheriff Sanderson told him: “Because of the nature of the charge I’m going to ask for criminal justice social work reports.

“This is a serious charge so all options remain open.”
