Defence firm goes by the book for diamond anniversary

A LEADING firm in defence electronics is marking 60 years in airborne fire control radar with a unique celebration event and the publication of an 
illustrated book.

In 1952, Ferranti began technology development work at its site in Crewe Toll, Edinburgh, for the airborne intercept radar that would eventually equip the RAF’s Lightning interceptor.

The company later became SELEX Galileo Edinburgh and to mark its diamond 
anniversary in the industry it exhibited 17 radar sets at a reception to launch the book Looking Forward: 60 Years of Fire Control Radar.

SELEX Galileo Edinburgh is divided into two sites which host airborne radar, laser systems, electro-optics, advanced projects and a laser centre of excellence.
