Contraflow on M8 during resurfacing

Major resurfacing works are to begin on the M8 tomorrow between junction 2 at Claylands and junction 3 at
Livingston.

That section of the motorway is used daily by around 64,000 vehicles, with a £700,000 investment by Transport Scotland seeing 2.2 kilometres resurfaced.

Work will take place from 8pm tomorrow and is due to be completed by August 14. A contraflow traffic management system will be in operation as well as a 40mph speed limit.

Andy Thompson, engineer with BEAR Scotland, said: “When complete the works will benefit road users with a smoother, safer drive. These works are being carried out predominately overnight and during the weekend period to minimise delays to motorists.

“We would, however, encourage motorists to plan their journeys in advance, where possible.

“This continuing Transport Scotland investment in the M8 follows on from a series of schemes carried out over the last five years, and will help ensure that this vital artery linking Edinburgh to Glasgow remains in good working order for years to come.”
