City’s iconic cinema sold
THE owners of the Cameo cinema have sold the chain in a £47.3 million deal.
Picturehouse has been taken over by Cineworld, which runs a multiplex at Fountain Park.
Cineworld said the deal would allow it to tap into “new audiences in a high-value and growing part of the market”.
Lyn Goleby, co-founder and managing director of Picturehouse, said the Cameo, in Home Street, will be true to its roots, adding: “The unique character of Picturehouse cinemas will remain and our team will continue to bring the widest range of film to customers.”
