City chief executive takes on top role at youth advice charity

CIty council chief executive Sue Bruce has been appointed as chair of youth information charity Young Scot.

The move comes after Alan Blackie, the former chief executive of East Lothian Council, stepped down after six years.

Young Scot, which has 426,000 cardholders aged 11-26, provides information, ideas and incentives designed to help members make decisions and choices.

Louise Macdonald, chief executive of Young Scot, said: “We are really excited about Sue’s new position as chair of Young Scot.

“We have a huge amount of respect for the inspirational work she does to support young people.

“Sue has a wealth of experience, and it’s fantastic to have her insight to guide Young Scot to make an even bigger difference to the lives of young people across Scotland.”

Mrs Bruce said: “Having worked with Young Scot for many years I know already how much excellent work they do in supporting young people.

“I’m honoured to have been asked to
take on this role and really look forward to working more with Louise Macdonald and her team, as well as with fellow board members and partner organisations, in the coming years.”
