Church left damaged by intruders

Police are appealing for information after intruders broke into a West Lothian church – causing around £900 of damage.

Raiders forced their way into Armadale West Parish Church through a fire exit, but while the premises appear to have been searched, nothing is believed stolen.

The fire door was damaged as a result of the break-in which took place between 2.30pm and 4pm.

Inspector Michaela Kerr said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in Academy Street on Thursday, and who may have noticed something suspicious, to contact us on 0131 311 3131.

“Although nothing was taken, the culprits have caused almost a thousand pounds’ worth of damage. We would appeal for anyone with any knowledge to come forward to assist us in identifying whoever is responsible.”
