Charity picks new names for buildings

New names for buildings and houses at veterans’ charity Erskine’s Edinburgh home have been unveiled.

The original building has been named Shepherd Wing in memory of Colonel Ken Shepherd, who led Erskine as its Commandant for 12 years, with its four houses christened Rivers House, Sassoon House, Owen House and Craiglockhart House.

The expansion building has been named Rothesay Wing in recognition of the charity’s patron Prince Charles.

The General Officer Commanding Scotland, Major General Nick H Eeles ADC, led the ceremony.

Erskine chief executive, Lt Col Steve Conway, said: “This was an important occasion for the residents, relatives and staff as it seals the final stage of our efforts to expand our specialist care provision for veterans in the East of Scotland.”
