Changes to bin routes for 7000 homes

Changes to bin routes that will affect 7000 residents are to come into force on Monday.

All staff within the refuse collection service will move to a five-day shift pattern, which will involve changes to the day of collection for 7000 residents and 2000 trade waste customers in the south and south-west of the city.

It has also been confirmed that food waste collections will be introduced early this month in some parts of the city, and will cover the whole city by the end of this month.

Councillor Robert Aldridge, the city’s environment leader, said: “These proposals mean that, for some households, the number of collections will increase. We will also align routes with neighbourhood areas and move to a double shift arrangement.

“Planning is under way to ensure sufficient time for staff consultation and resident communication.”
