Cash boost funds college places

A HUNDRED new places for young people have been created at West Lothian College after fresh funding was secured.

The cash from Skills Development Scotland aims to provide 16-24-year-olds with vital skills for employment.

New students will be able to sign up for five different courses on the “Ways to Work” scheme, which begins in August.

Nancy Cooper, who heads up the Business Partnership Centre at West Lothian College, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer this new range of courses to young people.

“In consultation with local employers we are keen to help our learners take advantage of future work opportunities by equipping them with the necessary skills.”

West Lothian College principal Mhairi Laughlin added: “Having secured this funding, we are extremely pleased to be able to offer the Ways to Work programme.

“I’m confident that this will have an enormously positive impact on the students who 
participate.”
