Capital’s Olympic triathlon tie-in hailed as a triumph

A TRIATHLON event held in the city centre last weekend to celebrate the Olympic Games has been declared a huge
success.

Sports fans were given a chance to compete in swimming, cycling and running events at Festival Square as they tuned into action from the Olympics being broadcast on the big screen.

Jem Lawson, British Triathlon Board member and chair of Triathlon England, which organised Triathlon Live, said: “We’re delighted to have brought Triathlon Live to
Edinburgh.

“Triathlon Live is a celebration of our growing sport in an iconic year, so it’s really fantastic to be able to come together with our fellow home nations to watch and show our support during the men’s and women’s Olympic triathlon races at Edinburgh’s Triathlon Live site.

“It’s important to us to spread the message about our great sport alongside giving people the opportunity to give it a try themselves.”
