Campaign just £500 short for mercy home

A FUNDRAISING drive to build a mercy home for an impoverished family in Romania is just £500 short of its target following an activity day at Craiglockhart Leisure & Tennis Centre.

Martin Lynch and family were moved to provide the two-bedroom property for a homeless family in Darmanesti after hearing their heartbreaking story on a recent visit.

The Romanian mother and her two young children had to flee their home because of problems with their father who has a “serious drink problem”.

Around £10,000 was required to build the mercy house with an activity day at Craiglockhart raising £2727.

In total the Lynches have now raised £9500.

Mr Lynch, 51, a sales and marketing expert, said: “We would like to express our thanks to Andy, Liz and Tricia and the team from Craiglockhart Leisure & Tennis Centre.”
